On November 25, 2010, visiting Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon in Dushanbe.

Wen conveyed cordial greetings and best wishes from Chinese President Hu Jintao to Rahmon. Defining Tajikistan as one of China's important cooperation partners in Central Asia, Wen said both sides have kept close high-level exchanges, pushed mutual political trust to a high level and conducted fruitful cooperation in all areas. He voiced his commitment to further expansion of mutual support and coordination between the two nations under bilateral and multilateral settings. China is willing to intensify cooperation with Tajikistan in sectors such as trade, power generation, transportation, mining and ports, Wen told Rahmon, calling on the two sides to further implement relevant projects and carry out the cooperation agreement between China's Xinjiang region and Tajikistan, with a view to promoting bilateral ties to a higher level.

China will work closely with Tajikistan to ensure the success of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) prime ministers' meeting, improve the organization’s unity and jointly combat the three evil forces of terrorism, separatism and extremism, so as to maintain regional stability and promote common prosperity among the SCO member states, Wen noted.

Rahmon asked Wen to convey his cordial greetings and best wishes to President Hu. Rahmon called China "a good friend and a good partner", saying that the boundary between the two countries has become a bond of friendship between the two peoples. Continued development of friendly and cooperative relations with China was, is and will be a priority in Tajikistan's foreign policy. Rahmon also voiced his appreciation to China for its support of Tajikistan's effort on maintenance of national independence and economic development. Tajikistan will continue to back China's effort to pursue peaceful reunification, and is ready to further political trust based on mutual respect and jointly combat the three evil forces. Tajikistan will promote its cooperation with China in fields such as trade and infrastructure construction, and will intensify its coordination with China in multilateral organizations such as the SCO in a bid to push bilateral ties to a new level, the Tajik president said.
