On 31 December 2004, Chinese Ambassador Wang Chungui, on behalf of the Red Cross Society of China, transferred US$ 20000 to Tengku Tan Sri Dato' Shariman, Chairman of Malaysian Red Crescent Society. Wang said it was the second donation from China, a token of the deep sympathy and cordial solicitude of the Chinese Government and people to the tsunami-afflicted people. Wang hoped Malaysia would conquer the disaster and return to the normal order of life at an early date. Shariman appreciated the friendship of the Chinese people and their aid. He asked Wang to convey his gratitude to the Red Cross Society of China.
