The Honorable YB Datuk Seri Panglima Madius Tangau, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation,

Ministers, Excellencies,

Tan Sri-Tan Sri, Dato'-Dato', Datin-Datin, Tuan-Tuan dan puan-puan,

Distinguished guests, dear friends, ladies and gentlemen,

Good evening! Selamat Datang!

Today, I feel very happy to see all of you here to join us in celebrating the 67th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Let me begin by extending my warmest welcome to all the friends present here. I'd also like to express my sincere thanks to all the people who have made efforts and contributions to China's modernization process and stronger ties of friendship and cooperation between China and Malaysia.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Since 1949, great changes have taken place in China. Just as President Xi Jinping said on the G20 summit in Hangzhou, the past 67 years was a course of blazing a new trail, a course of delivering tangible outcome, and a course of achieving common prosperity, and now China and the world are embracing each other. China had found the road fit for its people. Thanks to the reform and opening-up endeavor, China has lifted over 700 million people out of poverty and tried hard to make life better for its 1.3 billion-plus people. China has become the second largest economy in the world.

Today's China is standing at a new starting point for realizing its dream. It is injecting impetus in economic and social construction, adapting to the new normal of economic development, transforming economic growth mode, and deeply interacting with the world. China is confident and capable of keeping growth at medium-high speed and continuing to provide the world with vast opportunities.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

China and Malaysia are close neighbors, trustworthy friends and reliable partners. Politically, China and Malaysia have enhanced mutual strategic trust by frequent exchange of high level visits, which will continuously push our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to a higher level. Economically, China and Malaysia have injected great stimulus and vitality into the bilateral trade and investment through "One Belt, One Road Initiative" and industrial capacity cooperation. China has been the largest trade partner of Malaysia for 7 years. Malaysia has been China's largest trade partner in ASEAN for past 8 years and China's 6th largest trading nation in the world. We are especially inspired by the substantial progress of iconic projects in our bilateral cooperation, and there are more waiting for our exploration and all of them will mutually benefit our peoples and bring a better future for Malaysia and China. Regarding to people-to-people contact, Malaysia has long been a hot destination for Chinese tourists. The newly launched Xiamen University Malaysia Campus will become another shining pearl in the culture Maritime Silk Road.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Just like the name of the baby panda Nuan Nuan, let us join together to make our friendship warmer and warm the heart of everyone. So, let's celebrate, for China, Malaysia, our friendship and a splendid future!

Thank you and enjoy the night!
