Embassy Defence Attache Elaborates China's New Defence White Paper in Malaysian Military Colleges

On July 7 and 10, Senior Colonel Chen Wei, Military, Naval and Air Attache of the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia, upon invitation by Malaysian Armed Forces Defence College and Staff College, addressed respectively to their staff and students about the newly published Chinese defence white paper entitled China’s Military Strategy.

Senior Colonel Chen introduced to the audience the basic elements of China’s military strategy and thoroughly elaborated its new features as demonstrated in the new white paper, stressing that China will unswervingly pursue a national defence policy that is denfensive in nature and China’s armed forces will adhere to and enrich the strategic concept of active defence. He pointed out that the Chinese military will strive to enhance the capabilities in effectively implementing its mission in the new historic period and accomplishing the various strategic tasks, resolutely safeguarding China’s sovereignty, security and development interest. He emphasized China’s armed forces will more actively engage themselves in international and regional military and security cooperation to shoulder more international and responsibilities and obligations, provide more public security goods, and contribute more to world peace and common development.

The Senior Colonel also took the chance to answer questions raised by the foreign as well as Malaysian students of the two colleges concerning the white paper and China’s domestic situation, foreign policy and external relations.
