Reception Held to Celebrate the PLA Day

On July 31 evening, Senior Colonel Chen Wei, Military Naval & Air Attaché of Chinese Embassy in Malaysia hosted a reception at Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur to celebrate the 87th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army. H.E. Ambassador of China Huang Huikang and the staff of the Embassy attended the reception, which also witnessed the presence of General Tan Sri’ Dato’ Sri Zulkifeli bin Mohd Zin, Malaysian Chief of Defence Force, Vice Admiral Dato’ Seri Ahmad Kamarulzaman, Deputy Chief of Navy and high ranking officers from Malaysia Armed Forces, Royal Malaysia Police and Malaysia government departments, guests from commercial, cultural, media, academia and local Chinese communities and representatives of the Chinese enterprises, organizations and students in Malaysia. The guests expressed their congratulations on the PLA Day and their appreciation to the achievements of the PLA modernization construction and its contributions to maintaining peace and stability and promoting common development of the world and regions.

H.E. Huang Huikang, Senior Colonel Chen Wei and General Tan Sri Zulkifeli cut a cake together to celebrate the 87th birthday of the PLA.

In his toast, Senior Colonel Chen stressed that China steadfastly takes the road of peaceful development and implement the military strategy of active defence. China’s armed forces resolutely defend national sovereignty, security and territorial integrity, contain and strike all separatist forces, and protect national maritime rights and interests and national interests in outer space and cyber space. He pointed out that with openness and pragmatism, China’s armed forces commit themselves to increasing their interactions and cooperation with other armed forces and participating in UN peacekeeping missions, naval escort missions, counter-terrorism cooperation, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations and conducting joint exercises and training with foreign counterparts. The Senior Colonel also said that with joint efforts, Chinese and Malaysian armed forces will further promote their bilateral friendly exchanges and practical cooperation.

A documentary titled ‘The PLA of Today’ was shown to the guests. The reception lasted for over 2 hours in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
