A PAIR OF PANDAS WILL ARRIVE IN COMMEMORATION OF THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF CHINA-MALAYSIA DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS IN TIME
2014/04/11

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Malaysia diplomatic relations. The past 40 years have witnessed deepening mutual trust, growing economic, trade and investment ties and enhancing tourism and cultural cooperation between the two countries. Our bilateral relations always go in the forefront among China-ASEAN relations. Both sides expect to take this opportunity to intensify our Strategic Comprehensive Partnership.

As one of our series celebration programs, the Chinese side is going to send a pair of Pandas to Malaysia as the peace, good-will and friendship ambassadors from the Chinese people and will build on our activities in celebrating the 40th anniversary. The Chinese side maintains close interaction with the Malaysian side regarding the arrangements for the arrival of the pandas. This pair of Chinese Pandas “Fu Wa” and “Feng Yi” will arrive in due time.

Since the incident Malaysian airline MH370, the Chinese government and Malaysian government have spent great effort in searching the plane. It remains our priority for this time being and we shall continue to concentrate on this issue.

The history of our 40 years’ diplomatic ties shows that a friend in need is a friend indeed. China and Malaysia are as close as families. Our bilateral ties would not be affected by any single incident or change of times. Our celebrations would resume and we would join our efforts to ensure a sound and stable development of our Strategic Comprehensive Partnership.
