International Women's Day Celebration Event
2011/03/10

Ladies' Club of Chinese Embassy, led by Madame Zhang Rufen, wife of the Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia, held a celebration event with guests from the Ladies Association of Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Malaysia (PERWAKILAN) at the Chinese Ambassador's Residence on Friday 4th March to celebrate the coming International Women's Day and promote the friendship between the two organizations.

Madame Zhang and Datin Jazliza Jalaludin, President of PERWAKILAN, gave speeches at the opening of the event. Both emphasized the rising social status of women and the significance of the achievements that women have made in economic, political and social fields. Madame Zhang especially pointed out the important role that women had played in their family.

The event kicked off with a screening of a film about China today and the achievements it has made over the past thirty years. Ladies from Chinese Embassy gave performances including classic Chinese songs and traditional Chinese dances while PERWAKILAN ladies performed Malay songs. At the end of performances, everyone stood up and danced a Malay dance, Cuti-Cuti 1Malaysia, with which the event reached its climax.

Chinese dishes and dim-sums provided at the event were well welcomed by the guests. Some guests also told about their experiences of living in China and learning Chinese language and cultures with great interest. After lunch, classic and popular songs in Chinese, in English and in Malay were performed by Chinese and Malay ladies in turn and in high spirits.

The event, which provided a great opportunity for ladies from the two organizations to know each other and for PERWAKILAN ladies to learn about China, was well welcomed. Everybody had a good time and looked forward to more opportunities to learn Chinese culture in the future.
