Q: An Indian official, when attending an activity in the so-called "Arunachal Pradesh", reportedly pledged to ensure the "security" of the strategically important area. How does China respond?
A: China's position on the China-India boundary question, including the disputed eastern section of the boundary is consistent and clear. We maintain that a fair, reasonable and mutually acceptable solution should be found through friendly negotiation on an equal footing. Pending the final settlement, the Indian side should work together with China to maintain peace and tranquility in the border area, instead of taking any action in the disputed area that may complicate the issue.
