The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Malaysia has always attached great importance to promoting exchanges and co-operation between China and Malaysia in various fields, and understands the urgent wishes and needs of Malaysians from all walks of life to go to China for commercial, tourism and family-visit purposes. Early this year, following the decision of Chinese government to manage COVID-19 with measures against Class-B infectious diseases, the Embassy quickly took a series of measures to update visa and other relevant policies in accordance with the notice on visa and entry policy adjustments to China, to fully facilitate Malaysian citizens' travel to China.

Starting from January 8, 2023, the Embassy has resumed the issuance of business, family-visit visas, and issued business visas of up to 3-year validity and family-visit visas of up to 5-year validity to eligible Malaysian citizens; since March 15, the Embassy has resumed the issuance of tourist visas, and issued tourist visas of up to 1-year validity to eligible Malaysian citizens; collaborate with the Chinese Visa Application Service Center in Kuala Lumpur to better deploy resources, improve application process, prolong service hours, continuously enlarge reception capacity, visa issuance efficiency and window services quality. Green channels have been provided to more than ten thousand individuals for important and urgent business, humanitarian affairs and other convenience services. From May 1, Malaysian citizens are allowed to enter China with virtual APEC Business Travel Cards. From August 10, temporary exemption from fingerprinting is provided for eligible applicants for commercial, tourism and family-visit purposes. From August 30, travelers from Malaysia to China are no longer required to take a pre-entry nucleic acid or antigen test for COVID-19.

The practical measures have been implemented at their earliest availability and turned out to be effective. Until now, the Embassy has issued nearly 130,000 visas, of which nearly 30% are multi-year multi-entry visas. The Embassy has always put people’s needs first and practice diplomacy for people. The Embassy will continue to focus on people’s needs, take more effective measures, and do our best to provide professional and high-quality services to Malaysian citizens.
